Rules of the Ladder

Article I: Introduction

Section 1.) Purpose:
A. The purpose of the ladder is to promote fun and motivation for the members of the club.
 
Section 2.) Placement:
A. At the time of the ladder's creation, players were place according to their rank.
B. A player is placed in the ladder after attending at least one meeting.
C. All new additions to the ladder must start at the bottom and work their way up.
Exceptions: The List administrator and/or the President may place someone according to their relative strength to the ladder.

Article II: Administration of the Ladder

Section 1.) Ladder Administrator's Duties
A. The ladder Administrator will maintain and arbitrate all disputes with the ladder.
B. Administrator must be a member of the club
C. Administrator word is the final authority
D. In the cases of conflict of interest, The Club President, Vice President, or agreed upon neutral person, respectively will temporary perform the duties of the Administrator.
E. Ladder Administrator has the right to suspend, or temporarily remove anyone from the ladder for fraudulent behavior.
 
Section 2: Players
A. Active players are placed on the ladder.
B. A player stays active by responding to challenges and attending meetings at regular intervals.
C. A player may be remove if he rejects a match or is guilty of time violation in two consecutive challenges.
D. A player remove from the ladder for reason in article II, Section 2C may be place back on the ladder by the List Administrator according to article I, section 2.
E. All players have the right of appeal for being removed from the ladder.
 
Section3: Fees:
A. The loser of the challenge may pay a fee of $5.00.
B. A player, removed from the ladder for two consecutive rejections, may pay a fee of $20.00 if he/she wished to be reinstated to the ladder.
C. A player, removed for disciplinary reasons, must pay a fee determine by the discipline committee.
D. A fees will be payable to the Bayou Go Club.

Section 4: Ladder Discipline:

A. They shall be a committee of four persons to serve as discipline committee for the ladder
B. The committee shall consist of the President, Vice- President, List Administrator, and an advocate for the accused.
C. If any conflict of interest exist, or if any person holds more than two of any position in the committee, the President shall appoint a proper substitute.
D. The Discipline committee shall decide permanent removal from the ladder.
E. Any players temporarily removed by the List Administrator, the committee shall review the case and come to decision within (1) one week's time (next meeting) or at the earliest convenience of the removed player and the committee. At which time, the player will be removed permanently or reinstated to the ladder.
F. The committee shall determine if a player permanently removed from the ladder shall be reinstated at a later time.

Article III: Challenges

Section 1: General Rules:
A. You may only challenge the person directly above your position on the ladder.
B. Ladder matches must be played at the meetings.
C. All Games MUST be played even.
D. Komi shall be decided by agreement.
E. The Players shall decide who will play black.
F. Clocks will be used, except upon agreement of the players.
G. The Ladder administrator settles all disputes.
H. All challenges are played in the order in which they were officially submitted.
Section 2: Number of Challenges:
A. You are allowed one challenge a month to the same player..
B. You may challenge the same player twice, only if you faced a challenge from the player below you on the ladder.
C. A player may only be challenge twice a month.
D. A player may play up to, but not exceeding, 4 ladder matches in a month. (it must not conflict with other rules).
E. Rebuttal matches cannot be played in the same week (meeting) as the original match.
Note: Rebuttal match is defined as; when person "A" challenges person "B" and person "A" wins the match, then person "B" must wait until the next meeting to challenge person "A."
F. No more than one rebuttal match involving the same players may be played within one calendar month.
 
Section 3: Making A Challenge:
A. In order to challenge a player, the challenger must submit a challenge to the Ladder Administrator.
B. An official submission may be either verbal or a hand written or typed challenge.
C. It may be delivered by hand or by email. (If by hand, it should include a date and time of challenge.
D. The official submission should state the players involved in the challenge and contact information for both players.
E. The List Administrator must inform the challenged player within 24hrs.
F. The challenged player has one week to accept or reject the challenge.
1.) Accept:
(a) The two players have within one (1) week to play the match.
2.) Reject by default:
(a) If a Player is within the process of another challenge, the Challenge is dropped. It MUST be resubmitted.
3.) Reject:
(a) The Challenged will relinquished his position to the challenger
4.) Time Violations:
(a) If the time allowed as elapsed before a match could be played, the challenged player will relinquish is position on the ladder to the challenger.
(b) Time violation may be appeal by either, or both players to the list administrator.

Article IV: After the Game

Section 1: Submitting the Results
A. A game is recorded when the results are submitted to the Ladder Administrator.
B. The Results should be submitted on a sheet of paper or by using a game recording sheet. In both cases, the score and signature of the losing player must be included. A verbal submission is also acceptable.
 
Section 2: Ladder Mechanics
A. If the challenger wins the match he will immediately, upon submission of results to Ladder Administrator, shall move up one space occuping the challenged person place on the ladder. The Challenged person shall move down into the challengers former person prior to the match.
B. If the challenged player wins the match, No position changes. The loser shall follow the guidlines in article II, Section 2a.
 

 Article V: Amendments

Section 1: Requesting a Change
A: Any member who is a participant on the ladder may submit a request to amend the rules of the ladder.
B: All request to amend the ladder rules should go to the Ladder administrator.
 
 Section 2: Voting for an Amendment
A: All membersr have the right to vote for any amendments to the rules of the ladder
B: A qurom of the general membership is required for changes to the ladder Rules.
